The Hovel was left in Poland by the Germans after their retirement in 1945. The Poles undertook to raise it with much care and competence, and endeavoured to respect the principles of the old German administration, they obtained, an excellent splendid saddle horse, similar to Trakehner. In fact, the Hovel and Trakehner belong to the same race, the Eastern Prussian. They have been separate only for thirty years, during which one did not introduce blood again.
